Peter William Wink - Artist

About Peter William Wink
I was born in Pretoria 1949, moved to Durban at the age of two.
At a very early age in junior school, I was inspired by a teacher Mr Dobbs, who encouraged me to pursue my talent as an artist. I attended Queensburgh Boys High School where I received the usual Art tuition.
My inspiration and ability to paint increased throughout my youth. While traveling the country during my National service, I saw many works of sculpture in different City Centres around the country, realising that sculpture was for me, that was in 1968. I obtained tools and began teaching myself, in those days partime Sculpture courses were not available to me.
I studied Fine Arts and Commercial Art partime at Durban Technicon, apart from the training I received there, I am self- taught.
I have exhibited at the following venues around the country:
1973 – Paintings at Barclays Square Pretoria
1982- Sculpture – Republic Festival of Art Ocean Terminal
Exhibited and sold works – Niel Sack Gallery Durban
Errol Boyley Gallery Ramsgate Natal
Gallery 709 Cape Town

Queensburgh Festival of Arts
Hans Merensky Wood Sculpture, Pretoria University
Gallery 33 Pine town Durban
French Cultural Centre Berea Durban
Sold sculpture to P Brink (author)

I have sold quite extensively to private collectors , commissions which I have done as well. (Master Builders Association in Westville Durban, and a kist lid which I carved for the housing of a scroll to the freedom of Verwordburg to the ex state President PW Botha (housed in George Museum )
I ran my own Gallery for awhile where I sold a number of my pieces (sculpture and paintings)
I am now preparing for a one man exhibition.
